KNOW YOUR MORPHOLOGY TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIZE
What is the morphology ?
The morphology defines the global silhouette of a person. We talk a lot about the different female morphologies but much less about yours, gentlemen! And yet, if you don't know it yet or if you've never asked yourself the question (between men, it's not a favorite subject, let's admit it), you should know that discovering it can get rid of a lot of clothing problems!
Indeed, knowing your morphology will lead you to dress accordingly: each silhouette has its assets and the clothes you choose will enhance them.
So, let's discover your morphology together!
Types of body shapes
There are four main types of morphology for men: H or rectangle, V or inverted triangle, A or triangle and O or oval. To keep in mind when you buy your next shirt:
The H or rectangle morphology:
It is quite common since it concerns almost half of you. Your shoulders are in the same alignment as your hips, that is to say of the same width. Your waist is not very marked and your bust is square. You have a rather flat torso and no or very little belly.
This figure is quite common among men, but you need to work on your dress code. You should choose clothes that visually widen the bust to give you a stature (thick jackets, trenches, horizontal prints, bright colors, etc.) and fitted or straight pants to avoid thickening the hips and the lower body.
The V shape or inverted triangle:
It is very desired since it is the reference morphology for men. Your shoulders and your bust are wide and developed. Your waist is marked and your legs are thin. This slim figure is the one of the sportsmen but can also be natural (lucky)!
Choose fitted clothing (tight-fitting shirts, fitted jackets and t-shirts, straight, semi-slim or slim pants) that will enhance your athletic figure. But be careful, tight-fitting doesn't mean skintight!
The A or triangle body type:
It is the opposite of the V shape. Your hips are wider than your shoulders, so you have little or a "drooping" build. This morphology is rather rare and generally concerns rather round men.
Gentlemen, use your imagination! Indeed, it is a question of enlarging your shoulders thanks to carefully chosen clothes. Structure your look by balancing your figure (large jackets, thick jackets and coats, jackets with thick collars, horizontal patterns like sailors, straight pants).
The O-shaped or oval morphology:
It concerns nearly a quarter of men. You have a wide build with round shoulders. Your hips are in the same alignment as your shoulders and you have a little bit of belly, your waist being itself in the alignment of your shoulders and hips.
The first rule should be: I banish loose clothing! If it works for women, you must avoid this false "trick" which packs you under the pretext of hiding your curves. Choose straight-cut clothes that won't mold you and won't hide you either (straight shirts, jackets and coats, straight or slightly tapered pants) and avoid jeans that are too slim. Be careful again, straight does not mean wide!
Gentlemen, now that you know your morphology, play with your assets by playing with styles!
