How to Measure Your Shirt Size?
To measure your shirt size, you will need a tape measure and a second person to help you, as this will be easier.
Here are a few steps to follow to help you:
Step #1: Measure your chest! Place the tape measure under your armpits and around the fullest part of your chest. Make sure the tape measure is snug but not too tight or too loose.
Step #2: Let's measure the sleeves! Hold your arm straight and to the side and measure the distance between the bone of your shoulder and your wrist.
Step #3: Check the size guide! Once you have your measurements, use them to find the shirt size that best fits your body by referring to the guide provided by the manufacturer.
Note that there are also professional tailors who can help you take exact measurements.
Sizes by Country
Firstly, size correspondence may vary depending on many factors: body type, style, and the cut of the garment. It can sometimes be complicated to find the right match!
The collar size is the most commonly used measurement to determine the shirt size. The measurement is taken around the neck, just below the Adam's apple. Collar sizes are usually measured in inches or centimeters.
In the United States
In the United States and Canada, men's shirt sizes are measured based on collar size. Sizes can range from 14 to 22 inches, with intermediate sizes such as 14.5, 15.5, etc. In general, each collar size corresponds to a specific shirt size.
In Europe
In Europe, the correspondence is slightly different. Shirt sizes are usually measured based on chest circumference, in centimeters. Sizes range from 36 to 56, with intermediate sizes such as 38, 40, etc. However, collar sizes can also be used as a means of matching shirt sizes in Europe. In this case, collar sizes are also measured in centimeters, with sizes ranging from 37 to 46.
